Yet another FB post that I won't make on my own page...

 Now that we should in theory expect to see a lot more unwanted kids being born in red states each year: I'm looking forward to seeing all the people who called themselves the "Moral Majority" for the past four decades explain why they aren't going to adopt any kids and also don't want their tax dollars to pay for more foster care or social workers or child welfare or food stamps or public school lunches or contraception or pre-natal care or daycare or evidence-based sex education or...


But I kid the "religious right". They know just as well as I do that the rate of abortions won't ACTUALLY decrease. We'll just see fewer safe and legal abortions in red states, and more of them from people who suddenly decide they need a couple days' vacation in a blue state. Also more unsafe and illegal abortions from people in red states who can't afford a trip across state lines.

But go ahead and tell yourselves you "saved" a lot of "babies". Hope it was worth abandoning all your Christian values along with all your conservative values to vote for Donald Fucking Trump.

On Kilmar Abrego Garcia, Evangelical Republicans, and Judas Iscariot

A matter of principle

Ever since November of 2016, the question has haunted me: How did the conservative Evangelicals I grew up with so thoroughly lose their principles? And the correct answer is: They never had principles.  But for once, I don't intend that as an insult. I mean this as a distinction between two different ways of looking at morality. Evangelicals never had principles; they had RULES. Because that's how their churches train them to think. They (along with the Catholics, who have fallen into the same error) are religious fundamentalists. They don't treat morality as a set of flexible guidelines that can and should change over time; they treat morality as a set of rules that are "the same yesterday, today, and forever".
