On god and the Grim Reaper

Just now, I learned of the death of a colleague at work. They worked in a group home for people who have developmental disabilities.

This was a deeply good, caring, and committed person. They were so passionate about helping the person they served that, when the person moved to another home in another county, the staff ALSO moved to another home in another county so they could continue supporting the person. They had their own physical and mental health challenges, their own difficulties with family members, and yet never let those things stop them from giving of their very best to people who needed them.

I have no idea what, if any, religious beliefs they had, but they incarnated the prayer of Saint Francis in every way. Where there was hatred, they sowed love; where there was injury, pardon; where there was discord, union; where there was doubt, faith; where there was despair, hope; where there was darkness, light; where there was sadness, joy.

And they're gone, for no fucking reason, in their early 50s.

Meanwhile, one of the most vile and selfish humans in living memory - proven in court to be guilty of sexual assault and fraud, and if the justice system is at all functional soon to be proven guilty in court of insurrection and treason - a man who incarnates everything Jesus preached against - is apparently still healthy in his mid-seventies, still running for the most powerful position in the most powerful country in history, and even still likely to WIN due to the unflagging support of the people who are loudest in declaring how much they love Jesus.

If the god Evangelicals believe in IS real and IS letting this happen, and yet presumes to tell me how I should live a moral life, then he can go fuck himself. I am infinitely superior to him morally, and always have been.
